Tomboy (from Captain Flash comics)

CAPTAIN FLASH was an obscure comic book that lasted a mere four issues (November 1954 to July 1955), published by a fly-by-night company called Sterling. The titular hero wasn't remarkable; however, the backup feature, Tomboy, was astounding!
Janie Jackson, preteen daughter of police lieutenant Charles Jackson, battles gangsters as a costumed heroine called "Tomboy". Despite her petite size, she'll wade into a mob of armed killers and beat the crap out of them with her "steel fists" till they beg for mercy. She even killed the entire Claw gang in her first adventure. And she smiles and jokes during her brutal attacks. "Mention the name Tomboy and the underworld shudders and crawls into its hole." How embarrassed they must have been getting beaten up by a little girl! She was the Hit Girl of her era. There was never an explanation for Tomboy's existence, no origin story, just 25 pages in total of her exciting adventures.
Tomboy seems to be in the public domain, and I've a mind to create a new adventure for the next issue of my own small press comic. Other recent interpretations of Tomboy depict her with gigantic breasts, some with an updated costume adding a utility belt, some presenting her in contemporary times. My version, however, would be totally faithful to the original. It would take place in 1954 or '55, she would still be a kid, she'd still have her homemade costume, and her "origin" would forever remain a mystery. To do otherwise would destroy the strange aspects that make this character so intriguing. I wouldn't change a hair on her head.
